Privacy policy

This notice explains what happens to the data you give us on vigkaroly.hu — for example when you fill in the contact form. In short: we ask for it so that we can reply, we do not sell it to anyone, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Please note: this is a courtesy translation. In case of any discrepancy, the Hungarian version of this notice prevails.

We are not required to appoint a data protection officer and have not appointed one; please send any question about data processing to the email address above.

What data we ask for, and why

Only what we need in order to reply. The form asks for:

Alongside these, the system automatically stores which page you sent the message from (the page address) and the time of submission. We do not store your IP address in readable form: only an irreversible fingerprint (hash) is kept, solely so that abuse can be identified afterwards.

Legal basis: taking steps at your request prior to entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — you contact us, we reply. The IP fingerprint kept for abuse filtering rests on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): without it the form could be flooded by bots.

The question-and-answer assistant on the site

The site runs a built-in assistant that answers frequently asked questions. It is not artificial intelligence and sends no data to any external provider: it looks the answers up in a question-and-answer list stored on our own server.

What you type into the conversation is saved — that is how we see which questions we had no answer for, and can extend the list. If you give your name and email address at the end of the conversation so that we can get back to you, we store those too, under the same rules as the form.

How long we keep it

We delete your enquiry 2 years after the last exchange of letters, unless a contract was concluded in the meantime — in that case accounting rules require us to keep the contract-related data for the period prescribed by law (typically 8 years).

Who has access, and who we share it with

Your messages are read by a person acting on behalf of Károly Vig. Besides us, the following providers have technical access, purely so that the system works:

• Hosting: DigitalOcean, LLC (105 Edgeview Drive, Ste. 425, Broomfield, CO 80021, United States). The server runs in the provider's Frankfurt (Germany) data centre, so the data stays within the European Union. The website runs here, and the database is stored here as well.
• Instant notification: Telegram — we also get a notification on our phone about a new enquiry, containing the details of the enquiry. Telegram's servers may also operate outside the European Union.

We do not sell your data, we do not pass it to advertisers, and we do not use it for profiling or automated decision-making.

Cookies and data stored in your browser

The site uses the minimum needed to work:

• Session cookie (vigkarolyhu_session) — needed to submit the form securely; it lives until you close the browser.
• CSRF cookie (XSRF-TOKEN) — prevents another site from submitting a form in your name.
• The assistant's conversation (in the browser's sessionStorage, under the vkfaqchat:* key) — so that the conversation is not lost when you move between pages. It is not a cookie, and it is cleared when you close the page.

These are strictly necessary for the site to work, so we do not ask for separate consent for them. The site currently runs NO external analytics or advertising code (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or similar).

Your rights

You may ask us at any time to

• tell you what data of yours we process (access),
• correct anything that is wrong (rectification),
• delete your data (erasure),
• restrict the processing, or object to it,
• hand over your data in machine-readable form (portability).

An email to info@vigkaroly.hu is enough. We reply within 30 days at the latest, and fulfilling your request is free of charge.

Data security

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), the data is handled on a password-protected interface, and only those who need it for their work have access. As stated above, the IP address is stored only as a fingerprint.

Changes to this notice

If the way the site works changes, we update this notice and change the date at the top. It is worth checking back from time to time.
